A new patient, contact, organisation, item or referral source
On Start, the search bar offers New patient, New contact or New organisation when nothing matches what you typed. Lists, in Settings (Reference data), has a tab for each kind and a New button, which is also how an item or a referral source is made.
Where you sign in at more than one organisation, a new patient, contact or organisation asks which organisation it belongs to under Belongs to, starting with the one you signed in at. It belongs to that organisation from then on.
The form asks for what is needed to spot a duplicate: the name, and for a patient the date of birth, mobile, email and postcode. Anyone already on file who looks the same is listed as you type, with the reason and a link to open them. A mobile matches however it is written, with or without its 0 or a +44.
Create stays off while a same-name or same-date-of-birth match is on screen, until you tick that you have looked. Anyone signed in can make a patient; new contacts, organisations, items and referral sources are for holders of Reference data, and everyone else is taken to a request form instead. A new patient, contact, organisation or item opens as soon as it is made, so it can be set up. A new referral source has no page to open, so the page says what was made and its number, with New referral source to make another. A new item starts with no prices; they are set on its page, under Fees.
Referral source is where the patient came from, chosen from the list: Other Doctor, Other Patient, Website Enquiry and so on. Referred by is optional and takes the name of the doctor or patient who sent them; it needs a referral source to go under. Both are recorded on the patient's record the way the old system recorded them, so they show in the same place.
