Finding a patient
The search bar on Start.
Type part of the name and the matches appear as you go, under Patients, with a date of birth and town beneath each so two people with the same name are told apart. Everything else that matches comes in its own group beneath; a contact who is also a practitioner here appears once, under Contacts, tagged as both. Patients, among the chips under the bar, shows only patients. Press the name to open the record. Only patients you are involved with, or who have been shared with you, are shown, and the same goes for their appointments, operations and admissions.
If you see all your organisation's patients, a patient whose record is held by another organisation is yours to find and open too, for as long as they have an appointment or an operation with your organisation, coming up or already seen, that has not been cancelled. Nobody has to share them. If the appointment or operation is cancelled, and they have no other with you, they stop being available to your organisation within a minute or so; anybody blacklisted from a patient still cannot see them however they are booked.
Where the patient's record holds a photograph, it shows beside their name in the results; a patient with none has nothing there.
A patient is found by their other names too: a maiden or married surname, a short form, or the name on a record merged into theirs. The result shows the name the record carries now, with Also known as and the other name beside it, so you know why it is there.
Only the latest thing in the box is answered. While you are still typing, the searches for what you had typed a moment ago are dropped rather than waited for, so keep typing and the results follow the box.
A phone number works too. Type six digits or more of a mobile or landline, written any way you like (07700 900123, +44 7700 900123 or just the last six digits), and the patients with that number on their contact details appear, each with the number beside it.
An email address works the same way. Type the address, or the first part of it such as jane.smith@, and the patients with that address on their contact details appear, each with the address beside the name.
Beside each match, Write on tablet sends a form to your reMarkable or your device to fill in by hand.
