The surgery booking confirmation
The booking form, under Submit; the patient's portal, under Documents; Settings, Fees and quotes, Surgery confirmation.
Where the organisation has Email the patient when their surgery is dated switched on, a patient whose operation is put on an operating list with a date to come is emailed "You're all booked in for surgery - here's what happens next", in their own name, about ten minutes later. The email congratulates them, carries the surgeon's and the hospital's own sections as Fedelsoft holds them (the hospital's terms among them), carries their invoice with a way to pay, and takes them into their patient portal, where the booking, what happens before surgery and anything they need to complete are kept up to date. A patient who has never signed in to the portal is invited to it in the same email; one who has is given Sign in. Where the hospital asks for a deposit, the same email asks for it, with the hospital's deposit terms, so the patient has one email rather than two; the deposit is not then emailed on its own as well.
It waits while the booking is Provisional, while it has no invoice, and while the patient has no email address, and goes as soon as none of those is true. Where the operation is paid for by an insurer or another body, it goes without an invoice. It goes once only for each booking: saving the date again does not send it again, and nor does moving the operation to another date, because the email gives no date and the portal always shows the date as it now stands. A move after it went is written on the patient's record.
On the booking form, the Submit step says when it went and to which address, or what it is waiting for. Preview is there where it failed to go, where it was drafted by hand instead, or for an operation dated before it was switched on: it shows the email exactly as it will go, with Send beneath it. The patient finds it in their portal under Documents, under Confirmations, with the date and time it was sent, and it opens on the page.
Settings, Fees and quotes, Surgery confirmation, switches it on and holds the organisation's own subject and opening words; left empty, the ones shown in grey are used. Operations already dated when it is switched on are left alone.
Under Sections, the same card lists the hospital's sections that every confirmation for an operation on one of its lists carries, such as its patient terms and conditions. Change a title or its text where it stands and it saves as you go; Add puts in a new section and Remove takes one out. The surgeon's own introduction and sections come from Fedelsoft as they always have.
