Operating lists
Operating lists, under Theatre in the menu on Start, or a theatre list on the schedule.
Move, on a case, takes it off this list and puts it on another in one step: choose the list, which shows its date, place and how many cases it holds, and press Move. It comes with its own time and takes the last place on the new list. If the new list will not take it, it is put back on the list it was on. Add a case from the waiting list searches the waiting list of every organisation you sign in at, so a booking form made at one organisation can go on another's list; Add to this list puts that same booking form on the list and makes no second one. Below it, a search for a patient who is not on the waiting list yet has Add on each; if the patient already has a booking form with no date, Add puts that form on this list instead of making another.
A list is one theatre session: the date, the theatre, the session and the people on it, with its cases in order. A list must name its theatre, because the theatre screens show the cases due in their own theatre and a list with none would not appear on any of them; New list asks Which theatre? and will not make the list without an answer, and a list cannot be edited to have none. The Facility box on New list shows only hospitals, in alphabetical order, and only those where the surgeon practises; until you choose a surgeon it is the hospitals where you practise, and choosing one changes it to theirs. Reorder the cases and the times follow the practice's own rule: admission, then start an hour later, then finish after the operation's expected length, with the next case admitted ninety minutes before this one is due to finish.
Moving a case keeps the first case's own admission time, so after a case is moved to the top, or times are changed elsewhere, the list can be out of step with its own start time. Each case whose admission or start is five minutes or more away from what the list's start gives is marked in amber, such as Admission 07:30 · list suggests 07:00, where the first case is admitted an hour before the list starts and the rest follow by the same rule. A line above the cases says how many are out of step, and Use suggested times beside it, for whoever may change the list, sets them all to the suggested times without changing the order, and notes on the list who did it. Nothing is marked when every case fits, on a list with no start time, or once the list has happened or been cancelled.
Cancel a case takes it off the list. A surgery that has no list yet is on the waiting list, which is its own page. A cancelled operation is put back by opening its booking form and pressing Reschedule, which brings you here to choose a list: Add here puts it on that list and it is no longer cancelled.
The number beside each case is its place on the list, counted from one, so the cases always read 1, 2, 3 even where one has been taken off in between.
A list is headed by its day as well as its date, so Wednesday 23/09/2026 rather than the date alone, on the list itself, in the list of lists and on the theatre screen.
A list's surgeon is the admitting consultant of the operations on it, so a list with no operations yet names no surgeon, and a list whose operations belong to two consultants names both. The same name is shown on the list, in the list of lists, on the rota, on the schedule and in search. A list holding one of your operations is yours: it is on your schedule and marked yours in the list of lists. Choosing a surgeon in New list puts them on the list's people. People, under the list, adds a member of staff: search for the name, choose their role from the choice beside it, with Anaesthetist first, and press Add. Each person is shown with their role, on the list and on the schedule's line for the list.
Where you sign in at more than one organisation, Operating lists shows the lists of every one of them together, each marked with its organisation, with a tick for each organisation at the top to hide its lists. Each list opens at its own organisation, exactly as it would had you switched there, and a change made on it is recorded there. New list still makes the list at the organisation you are signed in at, and Add here is offered only on that organisation's lists; to book a case onto another organisation's list, switch to it. If one organisation's lists cannot be read, the page says which.
Payments, at the top for a Director or IT Support, opens Surgery payments: the operations coming up whose fee has not been paid.
Print the list opens the list as one sheet of paper in a new tab, ready for the printer: the cases in running order with the admission, start and finish times and how long each is booked for, the patient and date of birth, the operation, and the anaesthetic, theatre and surgeon where they differ from the list's own. A cancelled case is shown struck through rather than dropped, so two sheets printed at different times can be told apart. The working parts of the list, the booking form tags and the log stay on the screen and are not printed.
